Favorite Places by Adrienne Mierzwa

5 07 2016

June completely flew by, which means it’s time for a new artist to be featured in the A.I. Friedman Gallery! For all of July we will be showing Favorite Places by Adrienne Mierzwa.

Adrienne was born and raised in Manhattan and moved to Rye, NY in 1996. She has been drawing and painting since a young age, due to her mother (an illustrator and painter herself) encouraging her artistic development. At Parson’s School of Design she studied painting and illustration and has taken courses at the School of Visual Arts, The National Academy of Design and Instituto Allende, located in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico.

Working in a variety of media, she typically paints landscapes, still lifes, and figures. Most of her landscapes are of the Sound Shore area. She also has painted Cape Cod, Martha’s Vineyard and Hawai’i. Adrienne says, “My goal in painting is to distill my feelings about a particular subject into a picture that will convey them to the painting’s viewer, and hopefully evoke those same feelings, while exploring the use of color and composition.”

In Hawaiian music, many songs are written honoring places and locations, beloved for their beauty or cultural meaning.  Favorite Places is a collection of paintings of the places that Adrienne loves the best, her love songs to them.

The Gallery Reception will take place at the Port Chester store on July 9th from 1pm-3pm, you can come meet Adrienne and see her lovely paintings in person. Also as a bonus, earlier that day we will be having a Duct Tape Painting Demo from 11am-1pm.  You could learn how to paint with duct tape and attend the reception right in a row!  If you are interested head to the Event Calendar for all of our events this month!
