Over the weekend we helped out with our neighbor, Whole Foods Market Port Chester’s 2nd Annual Beard and Mustache Competition. The categories were: Biggest Beard, Best Mustache, Best Groomed, Best Goatee, and Most Creative. It was a very fun celebration of all things facial hair. Gentleman’s Barber Spa was there to offer free straight razor touchups and there were free hotdogs as well as craft beer tasting. We were on hand to offer a free children’s craft of, what else, macaroni beards and mustaches!
These beards and mustaches are a super easy project that you could make at home! Cut out a beard shape of construction paper, glue a popsicle stick to the back, then go to to town with dry pasta and glue! The kids had a great time making and then trying on their noodle creations.
We even had a fun time making our own project. Hallie, who works in our Fine Arts Department, made a very impressive spaghetti mustache. He entered it into the Best Mustache competition and brought home the 2nd place title! Way to go, Hallie, you have made us proud with your mustache crafting skills.
Our next event at Whole Foods Market is July 16th from 11am-2pm where we will be working with Decopatch paper collage. Stop by to join in on the fun!
