April 2015 Artist Contest Winner is Jane Dell with her artwork “Descending Sisters”. April’s contest theme was the spirit of Earth Day. For the last 20 years, Jane Dell’s artwork has focused on painting, collage and mixed media, depicting a psychological response to the Earth’s threatened environment, creating unfamiliar worlds from the familiar. She is an award winning-artist born in New York City. Among her accomplishments are “Best in Show” at the NJ Arts Guild in 2012 and an Exceptional Merit Cash Award for the prestigious Metro 28 Small Works traveling art show from the City Without Walls Gallery in Newark, New Jersey. Her education includes a BFA from Pratt Institute and textile and fabric arts studies at Parsons School of Design. She created a hand-painted silk business and exclusively sold work at The Show of Hands Gallery in New York City. Some of the tools she uses to create her artwork are brushes, oil paints, acrylics, mediums, canvas, printing papers and frames. She is a long-time A.I. Friedman customer (close to 35 years) and likes the layout of A.I. Friedman stores , the quality art supplies and knowledgeable staff. When asked about the role that art has played in her life, Jane explained that art has given her direction in life and her identity.
