In celebration of Earth Day, each spring Gamblin Artist Color master paint makers recycle the pigments captured by their Torrit Air Filtration System into a limited edition color called Torrit Grey. Rather than sending their high quality, expensive pigments into a landfill, Gamblin recycles them. Each year the mix of pigments is different so Torrit Grey is always unique, ranging from warm dove grey to cool, bluish grey. Gamblin is now dating the tubes so artists can collect them from year to year and enjoy the unique qualities of each edition. With a $25 purchase of Gamblin paint from A.I. Friedman’s Port Chester Store, you will receive a free tube of Torrit Grey (37ml)!

Gamblin_paintsWith each year’s batches of Torrit Grey, artists are invited to participate in Gamblin’s Torrit Grey painting contest. Each year this competition attracts more and more entries from painters willing to take the challenge of making a value based painting using only Torrit Grey and any black or white oil paint. Robert Gamblin judges the competition and the winners receive a $500 supply of their choice of Gamblin Artists’ materials! Honorable mention prizes for a $350 supply of Gamblin Artists’ materials will also be awarded! All participating artists will be notified of results and all entries will be displayed in Gamblin’s online gallery following the completion of the competition. See for competition guidelines and more information.

Congratulations to this year’s winners and honorable mentions and to all who participated. The entire suite of Torrit Grey paintings can be viewed in the Torrit Grey Gallery. Competition entry information and guidelines can be found on the Gamblin website. Of course Gamblin paints are available in the A.I. Friedman Port Chester Store and on our website,! Good Luck!!
